Carlisle Gun Club Meeting Minutes
10/25/2021

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by the Club President.

The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Officers and Members Present: President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, and 2 Trustees. Vice-President and George Lawrence, were absent. There were 28 members present.

Minutes for the 27 September 2021 meeting were read and approved. Motion to accept the Minutes, as read, was made by Bruce Apgar, seconded by Bob Berrettini. The motion carried.

Treasurer Report was read and approved.  The total balance of all accounts, checking, savings, CDs, and Training Fund, amounted to $113,022.80. Included in this total is the roof fund, which has $50K. CGC member contributions to the NRA ILA were $760. The Treasurer will provide the NRA ILA with a check for $500, as previously approved by member vote, for a known total NRA ILA contribution of $1260…other members might have donated on their own without notifying the CGC Treasurer. Motion to accept the Report, as read, was made by Rick Blosser, seconded by Barbara Vanner. The motion carried.

Corresponding Secretary Report – Scot Storey. CGC member email database and process for broadcast emails was transferred from Clayton to Scot. The email announcing the 25 October 2021 meeting was received by most members. The CGC member email database will be updated and confirmed in November to reflect current CGC members.

CGC Training Group Activities Report Denny Kuehn. CGC NRA instructors hosted an NRA Basics of Personal Protection In The Home course on 15-16 October 2021. There were 11 shooters in the course: 4 women and 7 men. All shooters completed course requirements. CGC will host an NRA Basics of Personal Protection Outside The Homecourse on 13 and 20 November 2021. There 14 shooters registered for the course. Fred Gellert recently became an NRA Certified Training Counselor. See the 25 October 2021 CGC Training Group Activities Report for additional information.

New Members There were no new members voted into the Club.

4-H Youth Small-Bore Rifle Shooting Program John Gingrich. Seven new shooters began training on 7 October 2021. Six previous season shooters returned this season for a total of 13 youth shooters ranging in age from 10 years to 18 years. The Higher Information Group shooting sports fund raiser event yielded @ $2500 for the youth shooters sponsored by the Carlisle Gun Club. Accordingly, John Gingrich will coordinate with Mike Kubarek to purchase several Savage rifles through the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) to become property of the Carlisle Gun Club for youth shooting sports activities. ACTION ITEM: Mike Kubarek. The CGC has not renewed its CMP affiliation since 2018. The CMP dues must be paid to order firearms through the CMP. ACTION ITEM: Darren Snow.

Cowboy Action – Rick Blosser. No report.

Membership CommitteeThere are currently 497 active members, leaving 3 remaining available membership slots. There are 34 new member applications (3 with no sponsor.) To date, 416 current members renewed their memberships. CGC membership is capped until November 2021.

Technology and Security Committee – No report.

WPPL Pistol Team – Gary Gibson. The 2021-2022 season WPPL has started and there are matches at CGC on the next 2 Wednesdays, 27 October and 3 November. Matches are scheduled to start at 7pm, but setup is at 6:30pm and match times must continue to 9pm to accommodate participants who work late. Typical matches can have up to 30 shooters. CGC WPPL teams typically have up to 12 shooters when matches are at CGC and 7-10 shooters when traveling to other clubs for matches. CGC WPPL Gold Team is currently in 6th place…Blue Team is in 7th place. Anyone interested in WPPL Precision Pistol shooting, please contact Gary Gibson or any CGC WPPL shooter. See the schedule on the CGC Bulleting Board for matches and for names of CGC shooters.

Trustees Report – Phil Dyche. The range cleanup day will be rescheduled. After the 25 October 2021 meeting, Trustees and other members will check for the location of roof leaks on the range to determine appropriate remediation actions.

Old Business

  1. Re-examine range bullet trap options. ACTION ITEM: Range management.
  2. Dispose of the candy machine and the soda machine and examine feasibility of purchasing a refrigerator to be stocked with sodas for sale on an honor basis. ACTION ITEM: Range Management.
  3. Reschedule Range cleanup or repair conveyor belts. ACTION ITEM: Range Management.

New Business None.

For the Good of the Club

  1. Mike Kubarek has Dunham’s 10% discount cards for CGC members. These cards do not expire. Contact Mike to get a card.
  2. Sunday 21 November 2021 from 1pm-3pm will be a U.S. Law Shield seminar at CGC. The seminar topics include the legally-justified use of force, Castle Doctrine, where you can legally carry a concealed pistol, and what to expect when law enforcement officers arrive at an incident. The seminar is open to CGC members and guests. All attendees will receive a free book worth $19.95 about Pennsylvania law regarding use of deadly force. Register to attend at texaslawshield.secure.force.com. ACTION ITEM: Corresponding Secretary.

Motion to Adjourn was made by Mike Kubarek, seconded by Randy Nichols. The motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 7:25pm
