Carlisle Gun Club Meeting Notes

November 21, 2022

The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm by the Club President.

The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Officers and Members Present: President, Vice-President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary and one Trustee. Treasurer, Membership Director, and Trustees Bob Berrettini and Phil Dyche were absent. There were 15 members present.

Minutes for the 31 October 2022 meeting were read and approved.  Motion to accept the Meeting Minutes,  as read, was made by Mike Kubarek and seconded by Courtney Genise. The motion carried.

Treasurer Report was read and approved.   Treasurer report was read by the President. The total balance of all accounts, checking, savings, and CD’s amounted to $122,592.04.  The NRA-Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) donation fund closed at the end of the month with $310.00 and $310 of matching Club funds of an authorized $500 from the Club, for a total donation to the NRA-ILA of $620. The Cumberland County Special Response Team (SRT) donation fund closed at the end of the month with $1,240 and $1,240 of matching Club funds of an authorized $2000 from the Club, for a total donation to the Cumberland County SRT of $2,480.

Sincere Thanks goes to all participating CGC members for their generosity to these worthy causes. Motion to accept the Treasurer Report, as read and updated, was made by Rick Blosser and seconded by Barbara Vanner. The motion carried.

After-the-report Treasurer actions to date include:

  1. Presently, only the Club Treasurer is listed as authorized to access the Club’s Members 1st Federal Credit

Union account. President Kurt Uhler should be added to the Club’s Members 1st account.

Action Item:  Treasurer and President in coordination with representative of Members 1st FCU.

  1. The CGC Savings Account grew to @ $94,000. November’s dividend was @ $7.30. Members 1st Federal

Credit Union has a 15-Month CD at 4.3%APR with a 4.22% Dividend which would translate to Dividend

Income for the Club of @ $2700 at the end of 15 months. Accordingly, after electronic coordination and

approval by Club officers, $50,000 of Club Savings Account was moved into a Members 1st 15-Month CD.

This investment still leaves @ $44,000 in savings and @ $26,000 in checking.

Corresponding Secretary Report – Scot Story.  A member broadcast email was sent announcing the 21 November meeting and reminding members that NRA-ILA and SRT donations need to be in by the end of the month of November 2022. A Member broadcast email was sent announcing range closure for cleaning on 15 November 2022. And an email was sent to Club officers about scrubbing the Club Membership Roster after the end of October 2022.

CGC Training Group Activities Report – Barbara Vanner. The 21 November report included CGC Training Group activities for the months of October and November 2022. The CGC Training Fund ending balance was $3,668.81. CGC NRA instructors hosted an NRA a PPIH course 14-15 October 2022, and a PPOH course on 12 and 19 November 2022. New Members – None.

4-H Youth Small-Bore Rifle Shooting Program – No report.

Cowboy Action – Rick Blosser.  CGC officers coordinated to authorize the Perry County Regulators to host Single Action Shooting Society Cowboy Action shoots at the club on 7 January and 4 February 2023.

Membership Committee – Rob Steward was absent, but his report was read by the President. To date, 421members renewed their memberships. The Club will begin in-processing up to 15 new members at the 30 January meeting.

Technology and Security Committee – John Haiduck. A club access fob was created for the security system camera technician. The security system appears to be working normally, even though the system’s cooling fan has begun to sound louder than before. The Security and Technology Committee will continue to closely monitor the system.

WPPL Pistol Team – No report.

Trustees Report – George Lawrence. The Treasurer and Trustees are searching for a roofing contractor to solicit bids for CGC roof repairs. The new bid should include provisions for warrantee of work to be accomplished.

  1. Action Item: Treasurer in coordination with Trustees to hand-off to Trustees to present to members for

decision and for authorization to proceed with a roof repair contract.

  1. Both CGC toilets need to be replaced and safety bars should be installed. Estimated cost is vicinity of $500.

Action Item: Trustees.

Old Business – Final Totals for donations for NRA-ILA and for the Cumberland County SRT will be provided at the next meeting. See Treasurer Report above.

New Business – The December General Membership Meeting is cancelled. The Corresponding Secretary will notify members via broadcast email.

For the Good of the Club

  1. Rick Blosser. If anyone is a reloader and needs primers, Shyda’s Outdoor Center in Lebannon, PA has small and large pistol primers for sale for @ 10 cents each.
  2. Tom Sheperd. There will be a meeting with the Carlisle Police Department at 6pm on Tuesday 22 November

2022 in the Carlisle Borough Hall 53 West South Street.

Motion to Adjourn – was made by George Lawrence and seconded by Mike Kubarek. The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 7:19pm.
