The Vice President and all Club members thank Clayton for his excellent service to our Club. Member Scot Storey agrees to accept a nomination to run for the office of Corresponding Secretary. Please see five Action Items mentioned (in bold print) below in Trustees Report, New Business, and For the Good of the Club.

CGC Training Group Activities Report – CGC will host NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting courses on 10-11 September and 17-18 September 2021. Four CGC NRA instructors provided 16 hours of firearms safety and proficiency training for 13 shooters during the month of August 2021. See the 30 August 2021 CGC Training Group Activities Report for additional information.

New Members – There were no new members voted into the Club.

4-H Youth Small-Bore Rifle Shooting Program – John Gingrich. Returning shooters from last year’s teams will begin shooting at the Club on Thursday evenings starting 30 September 2021. New youth shooters will begin safety and proficiency training starting 7 October 2021. Good luck to our youth shooters and sincere thanks to the Gingrich’s and to all the parents of youth shooters who support this important special activity group.

Cowboy Action – Rick Blosser. Cowboy Action shooters are looking forward to their traditional shoot at the Carlisle Gun Club the first Saturdays of January and February 2022.

Membership Committee – There are currently 498 active members, leaving 2 remaining available membership slot. There are 21 new member applications (3 with no sponsor.) CGC membership is capped until November 2021.

Technology and Security Committee – No report.

WPPL Pistol Team – Dick Pryor. The season WPPL practice and competition starts again on 8 September 2021. The League plans to travel to each other’s clubs for competition this season…new or additional PA Health department restrictions, notwithstanding.

Trustees Report – George Lawrence. George reset the left range fan electrical circuit junction box and the left range fan now works normally. George noted a lot of brass being left on the range by previous range users. He asks theCorresponding Secretary to send a message to all members, reminding them to carefully and completely police their brass…and any other brass they observe. Action for Corresponding Secretary.

– Trustee Dick Pryor’s Trustee position is up for reelection next month. Dick prefers not to run for reelection, but will continue to help the Club. Sincere thanks to Dick for his leadership and service. Member Bob Berrettini stated that he would accept a nomination to serve.

Old Business – No old business.

New Business – Nominations for CGC office for the 2021-2022 fiscal year. President Steve opened nominations. The below slate of CGC members in good standing were nominated and seconded: President: Steve Baker. Vice-President: Joe Wasiak. Treasurer: Darren Snow. Recording Secretary: Slim Connors. Corresponding Secretary: Scot Storey. Trustee: Bob Berrettini.

– All nominees accepted their nomination. There were no other nominations for any of the open positions, so nominations were closed. Because there are no nominated opponents for any open position, the above positions and nominees represent a slate.

NOTE: If voting by a slate, announcement of voting by slate (and specifically stating the slate of nominated officials, by position) must be made on or before 17 September 2021 to comply with the 10-day notice requirement in CGC By-Laws for voting by slate. Action for Corresponding Secretary.

For the Good of the Club

– CGC member and Senior NRA Instructor and Team Leader Barbara Vanner: Members leaving articles like buckets of personal safety glasses, pens, etc., can either retrieve their property or it will be disposed of before the next Club work day.

– President Steve read an email sent to the Club Treasurer that appeared to be asking the Treasurer to send money to a bogus account for a bogus reason. This email did not come from President Steve and was definitely phishing. Club members are reminded to be aware of such scams, to report them to competent authority, and to take personal measures to identify yourself in official correspondence with Club officers. One example is a practice of including a special character in the body or signature block of your official email correspondence. President Steve will ask the Corresponding Secretary to send out another reminder about email security to help reduce impact of phishing scammers. Action for Corresponding Secretary.

– Trustee George Lawrence. George recommended the Club consider purchasing a couple of tower fans to circulate hot air toward the exhaust fans on the range. The issue was discussed and will be decided after consultation with CGC Range Management.

– The next CGC Club work day is Saturday 25 September at 8am. Dick Pryor and the other Trustees will coordinate tasks and equipment needed. Kurt Uhler will coordinate with other Cub member with welding expertise to repair range backstop, as needed. President Steve will ask Corresponding Secretary to send out an announcement, once the trustees decide what information to include. Action for Corresponding Secretary.

– President Steve will ask the Corresponding Secretary to send another email announcement regarding CGC support for the NRA ILA. Members who donate to the NRA ILA should notify the CGC Treasurer with the date and amount of their donation to the NRA ILA. Action for Corresponding Secretary.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:32pm

Respectfully submitted,

<SIGNED>

06/28/2021

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by the Club President.

The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Officers and Members Present: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary and all Trustees. There were 23 members present.

Minutes for the 24 May 2021 meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer Report was read and approved. The total balance of all accounts, checking, savings, CDs, less Training Fund, amounted to $91,535.44. There was no CGC Training Fund report available before the meeting.

Corresponding Secretary Report – Sent an email reminder about 28 June 2021 General Membership meeting.

CGC Training Group Activities Report – The CGC Training Group did not have CGC Training Fund data to report until later. On 28 June 2021, the actual CGC Training Fund balance was $5233.36. The CGC NRA Training Counselor conducted 6 NRA instructor courses and pre-qualifications, with help from Barbara Vanner and Bob Berrettini. CGC NRA Instructors provided 14 ½ hours of firearms safety and proficiency training for 14 shooters during end of May and month of June 2021. Bob Berrettini provided 16 hours of rifle training for 12 shooters at the Project Appleseed event at Quarryville, PA on 19-20 June 2021. The Vice President reminded members that 2020 and 2021 saw unprecedented numbers of gun sales in the U.S…many by first-time gun owners. If anyone knows a new gun owner, please remind them to get training. You do not have to be a CGC member to register for NRA training courses. Firearms training is an investment in public safety. See the 28 June 2021 CGC NRA Training Group Activities Report for additional information.

New Members – There were no new members voted into the Club. Membership is capped until membership slots become available in November 2021.

4-H Youth Small-Bore Rifle Shooting Program – John Gingrich. Thanks to Rick Blosser and the Perry County Regulators Cowboy Action Shooters for donating $300 to the 4-H Youth Rifle Program to make up for the fund raiser activities normally associated with the cancelled CGC Cowboy Action Shoot traditionally held at the Carlisle Gun Club during the first Saturdays of January and February. 4-H youth shooters are still shooting at the Club until mid-June, then they will go on summer hiatus until September.

Cowboy Action – No Report.

Membership Committee – There are currently 498 active members, leaving 2 remaining available membership slot. There are 16 new member applications (2 with no sponsor.) CGC membership is capped until November 2021. Members are reminded that annual CGC dues may be paid at the August CGC General Membership meeting, after which PayPal is activated for membership renewals. Dues must be received before 30 September. If paid during October, there is an additional $10 fee. After 31 October, members who have not renewed their membership will be dropped from CGC membership so new members may join the Club starting in November.

Technology and Security Committee – No report.

WPPL Pistol Team – Dick Pryor. No activities. The new WPPL season will begin 8 September 2021 and will continue until end of March 2022.

Trustees Report – No report.

Old Business – No old business.

New Business – No new business.

For the Good of the Club – From Trustee Phil Dyche. Beginning with the November meeting, processing new members makes General Membership meetings excessively long…causing some members not to attend some meetings. Additionally, Club member NRA instructors who in-process new members are sometimes on the range when Club business and votes are part of Club business. Discussion included considering limiting the number of new members voted on during a single meeting, conducting new member orientation and safety checks some other time during the week/month, how to activate/log/distribute key fobs, how to collect Club dues, etc. The decision was made to convene CGC Range Management to consider options.

From the Officers: In Compliance with CGC By-Lars, members are reminded that nominations for Club leader positions are due at the August General Membership meeting and voting occurs during the September meeting. Installations of newly-elected leaders is effective 1 October.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:24pm

Respectfully submitted,

Minutes for the 30 August 2021 meeting were read and approved. Motion to accept Minutes, as read, was made by Rick Blosser; seconded by Phil Dyche. Motion carried.

Treasurer Report was read and approved. The total balance of all accounts, checking, savings, CDs, less Training Fund, amounted to $99,922.74. Included in this total is the roof fund, which has $40K. The Training Fund balance was $6,246.29. CGC member contributions to the NRA ILA are currently at $760 and the fund drive goes through September. The Treasurer will compile a report and will provide the NRA ILA with a matching $500, as previously approved by member vote. Motion to accept report, as read, made by Don Kirk; seconded by Rick Blosser. Motion carried.

Corresponding Secretary Report – No report.

CGC Training Group Activities Report – CGC NRA instructors conducted NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting courses on 10-11 September and 17-18 September 2021. There were 11 shooters in these courses and all completed course requirements. CGC will host an NRA Basics of Personal Protection In The Home course 15-16 October 2021. This course is full. Three CGC NRA instructors provided 15 hours of firearms safety and proficiency training for 13 shooters during the month of September 2021. See the 27 September 2021 CGC Training Group Activities Report for additional information.

New Members – There were no new members voted into the Club.

4-H Youth Small-Bore Rifle Shooting Program – John Gingrich. On 15 September 2021, The Higher Information Group shooting sports fund raiser event yielded @ $2500 for the youth shooters sponsored by the Carlisle Gun Club. Accordingly, John Gingrich will coordinate with Mike Kubarek to purchase several Savage rifles through the Civilian Marksmanship Program to become property of the Carlisle Gun Club for youth shooting sports activities. ACTION ITEM: Mike Kubarek. Returning shooters from last year’s teams will begin shooting at the Club on Thursday evenings starting 30 September 2021. New youth shooters will begin safety and proficiency training starting 7 October 2021. Well done, John!

Cowboy Action – Rick Blosser. Cowboy Action shooters are looking forward to their traditional shoot at the Carlisle Gun Club on Saturday 8 January 2022 and on Saturday 5 February 2022. Because New Years Day falls on the 1st Saturday of 2022, the traditional 1st Saturday of January shoot is moved to 8 January 2022. The Recording Secretary will coordinate with the CGC Webmaster to reflect these dates on the CGC calendar. ACTION ITEM: Webmaster.

Membership Committee – There are currently 497 active members, leaving 3 remaining available membership slots. There are 26 new member applications (3 with no sponsor.) The League is travelling to other clubs for competition and other clubs are travelling to compete at CGC. See the schedule posted on the Club Bulleting Board to determine which Wednesday evenings have William Penn Pistol League activities at CGC.

Trustees Report – Phil Dyche. The range cleanup day scheduled for Saturday 25 September 2021 was cancelled because of unavailability of key Club members. The range cleanup day will be rescheduled.

Gary Gibson noted that the range backstop is in need of repair. He also noted that other clubs have range bullet traps that deflect bullets upwards to a second, horizontal plate that traps bullets for gravity drop to the bottom of the bullet trap. No remove bullets/led, simply shovel from the bottom of the trap. Discussion included the fact that previous structural assessments of the CGC range do not allow for additional weight to be suspended from the CGC ceiling without significant reinforcement. Discussion led to consensus to re-examine range bullet trap options. ACTION ITEM: Range management.

Old Business – Gary Gibson mentioned the lack of a functioning soda machine. Discussion led to understanding that the current soda machine is inoperative and is not able to be repaired. Consensus recommendation was to dispose of the current soda machine and to examine feasibility of purchasing a refrigerator to be stocked with sodas for sale on an honor basis. ACTION ITEM: Range Management.

New Business – Elections for CGC office for the 2021-2022 fiscal year were held. In compliance with CGC By-Laws, the following slate was presented: President: Steve Baker; Vice-President: Joe Wasiak; Treasurer: Darren Snow; Recording Secretary: Slim Connors; Corresponding Secretary: Scot Storey; Trustee: Bob Berrettini.
Respectfully submitted,
