The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by the Club President.

The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Officers present: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Corresponding Secretary, Recording Secretary and 3 Trustees.  There were 28 members present.

The meeting began with a presentation from special guest Sergeant David Miller, Commander of Cumberland County SRT.  Sgt. Miller and his team respond to high risk situations, requiring special equipment to keep his officers and innocent civilians safe.  Funding is a challenge since Cumberland County does not budget for the SRT.  The supplies used by the team have been made possible through generous donations.

The Minutes for the July 2020 meeting were read and approved. 

Treasurer’s Report was read and accepted.  The total balance of all accounts, checking, savings, CDs and Training Fund amounted to $68,324.59.

Corresponding Secretary’s Report- An email was recently sent to all members that club dues are now being accepted by Paypal or mail.  Also an email was sent regarding donations for the NRA-ILA.

NRA Training Group Report- Two NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting courses are scheduled in September.  Both courses are currently full.  Two NRA courses that were cancelled due to the pandemic will be rescheduled later this year.

New Members- There were 4 new members processed into the Club.

4-H Sharpshooters– A motion was made and approved to refer to this program as the Youth Shooting Program.  The 4-H Sharpshooters will resume sometime in 2021.  Until then, the youth will meet at the CGC on Thursday evenings to continue practicing their shooting skills while respecting social distancing.

Cowboy Action- No Report.

Membership Committee- Currently there are 488 active members and no new member applications.

WPPL Pistol Team- The team will start in September with Matches #2-12 shooting at our home club.  Scores will be sent in electronically for the approximately 15 shooters.  Every other lane on the range will be used during the matches and cloth barriers will be hung between the lanes to respect social distancing.

Technology and Security Committee- At the current time, everything is working fine.

Trustees Report– The annual Club Work Day date will be announced at the September Club meeting.

Old Business-

Support of Local Law Enforcement– In response to the presentation from Sgt. Miller, a motion was made and passed that any funds donated specifically for the Cumberland County SRT through our Club by our members will be matched up to $1,000 by the CGC.  An email announcement will be sent to all CGC members making them aware of this opportunity to help.

New Business-

Stop the Bleed Course- Dr. Jim Hurley and Barb Vanner will be offering this course again.  Date and venue to be announced.  This valuable training will teach you how to stop massive bleeding until first responders arrive.  Email Dr. Hurley if you are interested.

For the Good of the Club-

Vote- The Republican Committee reminded club members of the importance of voting on Election Day, November 3^rd. Please encourage those in your sphere of influence to vote.  Volunteers are needed to install signs, etcetera.  If you are interested, please visit the Cumberland County Republican office at 212 N. Hanover Street, Carlisle.

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by the Club Vice President.

The Minutes for the June 2020 meeting were read and approved by acclamation. 

Treasurer’s Report was read and accepted.  The total balance of all accounts, checking, savings, CDs and Training Fund amounted to $76,869.83.

Corresponding Secretary’s Report- No report.

NRA Training Group Report- Three CGC NRA Instructors volunteered in the Roots for Boots Veterans Charity-sponsored Ladies only NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course on July 25th for 13 shooters. All objectives were met and all shooters completed the course. Two NRA courses that were cancelled due to the pandemic are now scheduled during August.

New Members- There were 10 new members processed into the Club.

4-H Sharpshooters– No Report.

Cowboy Action- The team is taking a wait-and-see approach while there is still uncertainty due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.  New rules and procedures will have to be enforced during future events such as mandatory face masks, sanitization, etc.  More details to follow in the coming weeks.

Membership Committee- Currently there are 484 active members and a few new member applications.

WPPL Pistol Team- There has been discussion on how to effectively start the season.  The team hopes to start in September with a few changes to how competitions take place, possibly shooting at our home club, mail in scores and compete with other teams electronically.

Technology and Security Committee- No Report.

Trustees Report– The soundproofing panels have been installed in the range.  Thank you to the volunteers for your help with this project.

Old Business-

Support of Local Law Enforcement– It has been suggested the Club show support to our local law enforcement.  Sgt. Dave Miller will be our guest speaker at August CGC meeting.  Also, Randy Nichols will research the options available and discuss with the club.

New Business-

Elections– Nominations are needed for each elected office including 1 Trustee position.  Elections will be held at the September meeting.  An email will be sent to all CGC members regarding this.

NRA-ILA-The CGC will be accepting donations for the NRA-ILA starting in September.  Please notate “NRA-ILA” on your check memo line.  Slim will send Clayton an email template to be sent to all CGC members.

NRA Training Group Report- CGC NRA Instructors conducted an NRA Basics of Personal Protection Outside the Home course in March for 9 shooters and all requirements were met. Two other courses were cancelled due to the pandemic.  The Training Group has several activities planned for July.

New Members- There were 12 new members processed into the Club.

4-H Sharpshooters– The 4-H practices and competitions are on hold until October.  Until then,  the coaches will invite two Sharpshooters at a time to shoot at the range to help keep up their skills.

Cowboy Action- No Report.

Membership Committee- Currently there are 474 active members and 10 pending new member applications.  Our insurance company will be contacted to increase our coverage due to the number of active members.

WPPL Pistol Team- No Report.

Technology and Security Committee- No Report.

Trustees Report– The soundproofing panels being donated to the CGC will be delivered to the Club on Wednesday, July 1^st.  The supplies needed for installation will be purchased by the Club.  Help is needed installing the panels at a date/time to be determined.  An email will be sent to  members asking for support in this project.

New Business-

Support of Local Law Enforcement– It has been suggested the Club show support of the Carlisle Police Department, especially with recent actions against police across our country. While many agreed with this idea, it is unclear how to best show our appreciation.  Randy Nichols will research the options available and discuss at the next club meeting.

Concealed Carry Permit- Sheriff Anderson will be retiring soon, so please make sure your Concealed Carry Permit is up to date.

Treasurer’s Report was read and accepted.  The total balance of all accounts, checking, savings, CDs and Training Fund amounted to $80,856.60.

Corresponding Secretary’s Report- An email will be sent to all CGC members reminding us of the allowable calibers on the CGC range.

NRA Training Group Report- CGC NRA Instructors conducted an NRA Basics of Personal Protection Inside the Home course for 6 shooters and all requirements were met. The 2020 Training Schedule is posted on the CGC website.

New Members- There were 3 new members processed into the Club.

4-H Sharpshooters– The 4-H made over $500.00 at their food stand during the Cowboy Action event.

Cowboy Action- The Cowboy Action Shoot was successful. A total of $520 was collected in registration fees.

Membership Committee- Currently there are 462 active members and 4 pending new member applications.  We are rapidly approaching the club maximum of 475 members due to insurance reasons.

WPPL Pistol Team- No Report.

Technology and Security Committee- The key fobs are working well, and there are no issues with technology to report.

Trustees Report– The rubber on the backstop will need to be replaced sometime in the near future.  An email will be sent to all CGC members requesting help in attaining new rubber conveyor belt material.

Old Business-

Utah Carry Permit- Mike Kubarek is looking into hosting a Utah permit to carry class.  Utah requires at least 4 hours of gun handling safety and training. Most likely this will be scheduled on a Sunday afternoon in April.  More details to follow.

Trolley System- A club member asked if a trolley system could be installed on the range to allow shooting at different distances.  This was researched in the past and it was determined that our current range is unable to accommodate such system.

Range Overcrowding- Members were asked if they feel the range has been congested since the increase in number of active members. Most members feel there is no issue with overcrowding, however, a request was made that fob reports be run every 3 months to monitor range usage.

New Business-

Club Work Day–  Due to the increase of range usage, it has been suggested the Club have 2 work days per year, one in the Spring and Fall, to clean up the backstop and equipment.

Friends of the NRA Banquet- This year’s NRA banquet is scheduled for Sunday, March 29^th at 2pm at the Camp Hill Country Club.  Visit www.friendsofnra.org to purchase tickets.  The funds from this banquet stay in our area.  Our Club will benefit from an NRA grant again this year, possibly around a $4,000 grant.

NRA Training Group Report- Tom & Jason Richwine hosted an Instructor Clinic for 11 CGC NRA Instructors.  This year’s clinic was titled “Graduated Skills for Basic Pistol Instruction”. CGC NRA Instructors conducted an NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course for 13 shooters and all requirements were met.

New Members- There were 7 new members processed into the Club.

4-H Sharpshooters– The 4-H will be serving breakfast and lunch at the Cowboy Action event on February 1^st.  The Sharpshooters recently competed in the Palmyra Invitational and each shooter showed improvement.  They are hoping to participate in a Junior 3 position Sectional in February.

Cowboy Action- The Cowboy Action Shoot is scheduled for Feb. 1^st at 8:00am- 4:00pm.  Come out and watch 27 shooters and support the 4-H at their food stand.

Membership Committee- Currently there are 459 active members and 6 pending new member applications.  We are rapidly approaching the club maximum of 475 members due to insurance reasons.

WPPL Pistol Team- The Gold team is currently in 6^th place while the Blue team is in 9^th place.  If you want to improve your shooting skills and accuracy, join a team.  Contact Gary Gibson or Dick Pryor for more information.

Technology and Security Committee- There are currently no issues with technology.

Trustees Report– The roof leak is back.  It will be repaired temporarily until the Spring.   Darren Snow’s employer is offering the CGC 40 soundproofing panels at no cost. These panels can be hung on the interior walls with panel adhesive to help absorb some of the sound on the range.

New Business-

Utah Carry Permit- Mike Kubarek is researching the possibility of hosting an Utah permit to carry class.  It is estimated the class will cost $75-$100 and will include training, fingerprinting and photos.  There may be an application fee. Utah requires at least 4 hours of gun handling safety and training.

US Law Shield- Mike Kubarek is also working on scheduling another US Law Shield class for CGC members and guests.  More details to come.

For the Good of the Club-

Allowable Calibers on CGC Range- Reminder to all members- pistol calibers only! Failure to follow this rule will result in loss of Club membership for life and payment of range repairs. Video will be randomly reviewed and Club members are asked to speak up if they see someone with prohibited ammunition.  Report any infractions to Slim Connors with the description of the person and license plate number.

Applicants without Sponsors- A sponsor is required for all new club applicants. If an applicant does not have a sponsor, he/she is invited to attend a CGC members’ meeting to talk with current club members and ask them to be a sponsor. Both the sponsor and applicant must be present at the meeting in which the new member is being processed. If a sponsor is unable to attend the meeting that the new member is being processed, it is the sponsor’s responsibility to contact a current club member and ask them to stand in.

May Members Meeting- It was brought to the board’s attention that the last Monday in May is Memorial Day.  The new meeting date will be decided and posted on the Club’s website.
