Carlisle Gun Club Meeting Minutes
30 October, 2023

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by the Club President.

The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Officers and Members Present: President, Vice-President, and the Recording Secretary. The Treasurer, Corresponding Secretary and two Trustees were absent. There were 23 members present.

Minutes for the 25 September 2023 Meeting: The Meeting Minutes were read and approved. Motion to accept the Minutes was made by Phil Dyche and seconded by Bob Berrettine. The motion carried.

Treasurer Report: The Treasurer Report was read and approved. The total balance of all accounts, checking, savings, and CD of $51,498.70, less the Training Fund of $1814.94, amounting to $101,486.30. Motion to accept the Treasurer Report, as read, was made by Denny Kuehn, and seconded by Rob Stewart. The motion carried.

Corresponding Secretary Report:  Mr. Patrick Warner. There were two-member broadcast emails:  one announcing Range Closed for Cleaning – Routine floor cleaning is scheduled for Tuesday October 24th from 8:00-11:00 a.m. and reminder that renewal of General Membership Dues is due before October 30th.  Patrick commented that he received many emails claiming members did not know of this deadline.

CGC Training Group Activities Report:  Denny Kuehn. The CGC Training Fund balance was $878.36. CGC NRA instructors hosted an NRA Basics of Personal Protection in The Home course on 13-14 October 2023. There were nine shooters present.  CGC NRA instructors will host an NRA Basics of Personal Protection Outside the Home course on 11 and 18 November 2023.  The course fee is $90.  There are 16 training slots, and 9 shooters are registered. See the 25 September 2023 NRA Training Group Activities Report for additional details.  Darren Snow commented that clarification is needed regarding transfer to CGC General Fund in the amount of $2400.  Is this amount from January 2023?

New Members No new members.

4-H Youth Small-Bore Rifle Shooting Program: John Gingrich. The older youth shooters will begin practice on Thursday, 28 September 2023 and the younger and newer youth shooters will begin practice on                Thursday, 5 October. Practice times are from @ 6:15pm-@8pm Thursday nights. Two new shooters will be titled Carlisle Gun Club Youth due to age restrictions for shooters. The Gingriches are still looking for volunteers to assume duties of 4-H Youth shooters, anyone interested should contact the Gingriches. Everyone is invited and encouraged to show up on a Thursday evening and serve as spotters for the young shooters participating in the 4-H Youth Small-Bore Rifle Shooting Program.

Cowboy Action: No report.

Membership Committee: Rob Stewart. There are currently 363 active members. There are 493 members with 7 remaining available membership slots.  There are 11 current, valid applications.

Technology and Security Committee: John Haiduck. The video surveillance recording system still has problems associated with system updates and power outages or interruptions causing the system to fail to reboot and still to record as it was designed to do. A possible solution was presented by John. A possible solution requires additional costs to run. The current fee is $1192.50 annually.  The new option discussed is $2,007.83 plus $649.00 if cloud-based system is added.  Member discussion included brainstorming solutions and acquiring a better understanding of the issue.  The Committee Chair will contact Kirk Tadrich to invite him to the November meeting to explain the options to the members.

 

WPPL Pistol Team: Gary Gibson. The William Penn Pistol Leage season is underway. The WPPL schedule is posted at the range and on the CGC website. There are 10 teams in the League, with teams as far away as Mount Joy, PA.  Anyone interested in WPPL Precision Pistol shooting, please contact any WPPL shooter.

Trustees Report: Bob Berrettine reminded the members of the continuing issue of damages to the shooting range regarding imprecise shooting causing damage to the Sign Banner area. The problem of no accountability was presented and discussed among members.  There is an established committee addressing this matter.

Old Business:  None

New Business: The President chaired the election for three positions for the CGC Club Officers for FY2023-2024.  Patrick Warner for Corresponding Secretary and Trudie Couser for Recording Secretary and Slim Connors for Parliamentarian.  The motion for candidates to be presented and confirmed for vote was made by Paul McHugh and seconded by Rob Stewart.  Motion carried.  The President announced the date changes for the next two CGC meetings due to upcoming holiday conflicts with the routine schedule.  November meeting is 20th and December meeting is 18th.  The motion to accept these date changes was made by Darren Snow and seconded by Denny Kuehn.  Motion carried.

For the Good of the Club – Denny Kuehn informed the club of an opportunity to attend a free Concealed Carry Seminar at the Carlisle Expo Center on November 4th at 9:00 a.m.

Motion to Adjourn was made by Phil Dyche and seconded by Bill Coulson. The motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 7:47p.m.
