Carlisle Gun Club Meeting Minutes
February 24, 2025

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by the club President.

The Meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Officers and Members Present:  President, Vice President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, and 1 trustee was present.  There were 35 members present.  

Approval of Minutes from Prior Meeting.  The minutes for the January 27, 2025 meeting were read by the Recording Secretary. A motion to accept the minutes was made by Pete Castle.  The motion carried.  

Treasurer’s Report. The Treasurer’s Report was read by the Treasurer.  The total balance of all accounts and CDs amounted to $129,851.54.  A motion to accept the report was made by Denny Keuhn. The motion carried.  See attached Members 1st statement.

Corresponding Secretary’s Report.  The president introduced the new Corresponding Secretary, Matt Starcher.  The Corresponding Secretary reported that he now has access to member emails and functionality to conduct correspondence on behalf of the club.   

NRA Training Group Activities Report.  The NRA Training Group Activities Report for February was read by Slim Connors.  The group training fund had an ending balance of $3.199.40.   
Activities. The training group conducted a Personal Protection Inside the Home Course and Range Orientation and Safety orientation for new members at the January meeting.  Five CGC NRA instructors provided 9 hours of training to 6 shooters.  
Projected Training– There is an NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home Course scheduled for 15 and 22 March.  An NRA Defensive Pistol Course scheduled for 29 March.     
Miscellaneous– The CGC Training calendar is posted to the Club website.  All members are encouraged to read the CGC Range Operations, Regulations,  Policies, and Procedures on the club website.   The president encouraged club members to consider taking formal NRA training and to talk up training opportunities with others.  See the attached report.    

New Members Accepted into the Club.   There were 6 new members accepted into the club.  See the attached roster spreadsheet.

4H Youth Small Bore Rifle Shooting Program – No Report 

Cowboy Action Shooters.  The 4H made over $400 from concessions at the January and February Cowboy Action Shoots.

Membership Committee Report.   Wanda Bonasera reported that as of February 24, 2025 there were 428 members counting the 6 new members.  There are 3 new applications being processed.  See attached report.

Technology and Security Committee.  John Haiduck reported they are going to add some new cameras to the security system and reposition others.  

WPPL Pistol Team.  There are eight more weeks of shooting.  

Trustees Report.  

Mike Bonasera recommended that the next club workday be scheduled for Saturday, April 5, 2025.  President approved that recommendation and the work will begin at 0800.  

-Mike also reported that they are getting an estimate on a new fan housing for the exhaust fan.  This was followed by a discussion on the noise effect on the neighbors.  There was no update on the status of the repair to the range ceiling.    

Old Business.  

-The President and Vice President gave an update on their correspondence with representatives from Sheetz, the progress of the construction of a Sheetz at the old Farmers Market location, and its impact on the club.  There was discussion on concerns about the drainage once the Sheetz is finished and about the possibility of the construction of a parking lot for the club.

-Tom Richwine inquired as to the status of the previous Corresponding Secretary.    The president responded that he had stepped down from his duties.  

New Business.  A motion was made by Steve Bear to accept Matt Starcher as the new Corresponding Secretary.  The motion carried.  

For the Good of the Club.  It was announced that the Carlisle Fish and Game is hosting a Sportsman’s Swap meet on 4/27/2025.  Discussion followed on the possibility of the Gun Club hosting a similar event as a possible money-making opportunity.  

Adjournment.  Steve Bear made a motion to adjourn.  Motion Carried.  Meeting was adjourned at 7:57 pm.
