Meeting Minutes August 2025

Carlisle Gun Club Meeting Minutes
August 25, 2025 

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by the club Vice President.

The Meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Officers and Members Present:  Vice President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, and 1 trustee were present.  There were 56 members present.  

Approval of Minutes from Prior Meeting.  The minutes for the July 2025 meeting were read by the Recording Secretary. A motion to accept the minutes was made by Steve Bear.  The motion carried.  

Treasurer’s Report. The Treasurer’s Report was read by the Treasurer.  The total balance of all accounts and CDs amounted to $105,307.21.  A motion to accept the report was made by Mike Kubarek. The motion carried.  See attached Members 1st statement.  The Treasurer reported a CD was renewed at 3.74% interest and the only large bill for July 2025 was taxes.  The club has secured the services of an accountant with Smith, Elliot, and Kearns & Co., an accounting firm in Carlisle, to assist with filing of the tax exempt status of the club. See the attached report from the Treasurer.

Corresponding Secretary’s Report.  Matt Starcher reported that an email was sent to club members about submitting nominations for club leadership at the August meeting.     

NRA Training Group Activities Report.  The NRA Training Group Activities Report for August 2025 was read by Slim Connors.  The group training fund had an ending balance of $2,510.76.  Slim reported on the training activities for August.  The training activities scheduled for the upcoming months include an Instructors Clinic and two NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting courses. Slim also reminded members that during range shooting all windows in the club must be closed and exhaust fans on.    See the attached report.    

New Members Accepted into the Club.   There were 2 new members accepted into the club.  See the attached roster spreadsheet.

4H Youth Small Bore Rifle Shooting Program – The Vice President reported that we still need someone to volunteer to run the program.   

Cowboy Action Shooters.  No Report

Membership Committee Report.   Wanda Bonasera reported that as of July 28 there were 443 members counting the 2 new members.  There are no applications waiting to be processed.  The window is now open for members to pay their annual membership dues.  A message concerning the $80 membership renewal payments has been sent to the membership.  Payments are due by September 30, 2025.  A late payment of $10 is required for dues received after September 30 and by October 31.  See attached report.

Technology and Security Committee.  John Haiduck reported that so far we have not had any issues with the new cloud based system that are affecting the use of FOBs for club access.  

WPPL Pistol Team.  Gary Gibson reported that the first match is September 10, 2025.  This will be a home match.   See the attached schedule.   

Trustees Report.  

Mike Bonasera reported on the progress of the exhaust fan exterior shroud rebuild and noise abatement project.  The left shroud is completed and functioning as expected.  The right shroud is scheduled for renovation.  A discussion followed concerning the effect of the new shroud on noise reduction.  He also acquired four new chairs for use in the club classroom.  The Vice President thanked all those involved in the upgrades of the exhaust fan shrouds.  See attached report.

Old Business.  Hey are submitted as part of the 

-The Vice President reported on the situation with the construction of the new Sheetz.  It appears that progress is temporarily slowed.    

New Business.  

-Tom Richwine nominated the following slate of candidates for club leadership.  

President- Tom Shepherd
Vice President- Kurt Ulher
Treasurer- Sue Heist
Recording Secretary- Joe Wasiak
Trustee- Larry Kell 

These individuals will be voted on at the September meeting.  

-The “Stop the Bleed” course is scheduled for September 10 and September 21.  The class is limited to 8 individuals.  

For the Good of the Club.  

Tony Chiarella recommended that the By-Laws be updated before they are added to the packet being for the club’s tax-exempt status.  It was also noted that the address on the club website needs to be changed.  

-The Treasurer reported for the general information of the club membership that donations made to the NRA-ILA are not tax deductible.       

Adjournment.  Mike Kubarek made a motion to adjourn.  Motion Carried.  Meeting was adjourned at 7:38 pm.
